Great time at Hickley Jam!

Post by Albert Svenddal »

A great time was had by all at Jerry Dube's Jam in Hinkley, Minnesota last night. George from Duluth had a great tone on his beautiful Williams guitar. Bob Anderson (the chord master) was impressive with his good playing. Mark Wayne's set was great and he played several other instruments well also. Lefty Schrage sounded awesome and his wife has a great voice. Jerry Dube had killer tone simply plugged into a Fender "Steel King". Bill Lane played one of his own 'hand-built' guitars and it sounded very good. Good player as well. Also thanks go to the many super back-up musicians including that top-notch sax player, Jerry. I really had a blast and those who did not make it missed an AWESOME time. See you all next year. Al Svenddal

I second everything Al had to say. Al sure made that NV1000 turn a lot of heads! I used the Franklin settings on my NV112, Black Box and only my old DD2 stomp box, no amp reverb.

Perfect weather, great players, super nice people and excellant food. Couldn't have had a more perfect day (except the bout I had with several yellow jacket hornets).

Only 364 days left till the next one.

(BTW~congrats go to Jerry Dube on his Lifetime Achiement Award)

Many thanks to Jerry Dube for inviting me, and thanks to Al, Lefty, George, and the whole Minnesota gang.

Jerry and Gail Dube did a superb job hosting the annual jam at Hinckley, MN, this past weekend. The weather was great, the food was great, and so was the music provided by many capable musicians. It was a pleasure jamming w/ steelers Jerry Dube, Mark Krutke, Bob Anderson, and Bill Lane along w/ Jerry Logas and his terrific jazz sax/flute stylings both Friday and Saturday evenings (as well as the support provided by band mbrs Dave, Dan, Howie, Gregg, Mike, and Frank). Hard to wait til it happens again next year! ...lefty
p.s. Both Albert Svenddal (who also played the show Saturday) and Jerry Dube recently completed CD's featuring steel guitar instrumentals that would be a good addition to each steel player's collection.
[This message was edited by Lefty Schrage on 11 September 2005 at 08:48 PM.]

I too want to thank Jerry & Gayle for the wonderful time at the Jam in Hinckley. I thank all of the musicians & singers that came and helped make it a success. Especially Dale & Lefty from Iowa and Mark from Wisconsin for driving hundreds of miles to share their super talents with all of us. A special thank-you to Jerry Logas, a life long friend of Jerry's, who flew in from San Francisco, CA to spend some time and share his awesome talents. A big thank-you to Jerome Dube (Jerry's #1 son) for helping with setting up and tearing down of everything. (Jerome is a pedal steel student of mine and he did a couple of his own songs wonderfully.) Thanks to Howie, the super drummer, that filled in using my MSA D-12 case, a board and tapped his foot on the mic stand for a bass drum until the scheduled drummer arrived. Thank you everyone for the GREAT food - I am glad my belt had a couple of extra holes. I thank the Lord for the beautiful weather. Bob C Anderson
