Slim Rhodes went to church with my parents and I remember him well, he had a television show, but I really doubt it was ever recorded.
The show was "Slim Rhodes and his Mountaineers had a weekly Saturday show over WMCT in Memphis, from 12:00 to 12:30. They also had a 30-minute show over KATV in ine Bluff, Arkansas every Tuesday" from Hillbilly Hits website.
He died in 1966, I think he was sick and fell in his bathtub. He played primarily at schools in memphis, when I am back in town I quite often drive by where he lived. |

Just thought, some of his family might know. Here is a website with info about his sister Sandra who was on the show and still performs.

I think some of his children also are in the music business, I don't know their names but I can ask my mother. |

Daniel I grew up in North MS (Pontotoc) and always enjoyed the Rhodes Show. I saw them two times in person. Many of the steel guitar players will remember that John Hughey played with this show several years until he joined Conway. After Slim died Spec joined the Porter Wagoner show. Dusty went to Mountain View. I saw him there not long before he died and bought his latest fiddle album.
He was a super talent. Thanks for the memory.... |
