I have been using my IPhone with Cleartune for a few months now and I wouldn't trade it for anything, however one thing I haven't been able to figure out is how to deterine your offsets (for those of us that don't tune straight up). I still have my Stroboflip and don't use it at all except to determine my offsets, and then I program those offsets from the Stroboflip into Cleartune on my Iphone. I have 3 steels and each one is just a tad different as far as my ears go for tuning and so I'd like to measure those offsets (in cents) and then program them independantly. I could use the Stroboflip, but just wondering if Cleartune could provide that same information.

What I'd do is
1: Set tuner for Even Temperament, 442 reference (all of that is in settings, if you haven't poked around Cleartune)
2) Tune your Es, then tune the E9th neck of the first guitar by ear, taking note of how many cents off each note is. Cleartune has two needles, you might need to turn on the needle stabilizing to get good solid reading, but I don't notice mine jumping much.
3) Go to Temperaments, click options. select "Add" and enter each value, and name it "E9, Red Emmons" or whatever you'd name the guitar.
4) repeat 2 & 3 for each neck of each guitar.
I happen to run android, but I would imagine the 2 are similar

Hi Lane,
Thanks for the reply. I already have programmed my offsets into Cleartune as learned off of my Stroboflip. I guess what my question is, is there a display on Cleartune that will read you what the note is in cents? Anotherwords, if I didn't have the stroboflip, and I wanted to figure out what my tweeked settings are using the Cleartune, how do you do that. I've played around with the options but I'm not seeing that "magic" option that will display to me in cents what the note is.

The top needle displays deviations in cents, with the big line and numbers at 10 and 20.
The lower needle is also delineated in cents, but I find it harder to get a good reading.
it will not display something like "C#, -17", So you will have to read the needle. But it's not that hard

Hit the "Tools/options" button on the bottom ( you know, the 1 that is not home, back, or search). Select "Settings"
Select "temperaments"
Press Tools/Options again.
the only option is marked "Add."
Press it, Name your tuning, then enter the offsets. Click done
