| What a night. We had the pleasure of see Jones and the Boys at the Ky. state fair last night free of charge. You don't get this very often. Not a bad crowd for a man of his age. Just a guess, but I would say about 20,000. I didn't catch the steel mans name,but he was very enjoyable to listen to. |

Our band opened for the Jones show yesterday at Lanier Land Country Music Park.
We set up outside for a live radio remote.
Of course the audience wanted to hear US play some Jones songs.
Lo & behold, we were playing "He Stopped Loving Her Today" and during my break, here stands someone right in front of my steel that I had never met. It was Tom Kilby (Jones steeler since 1981) watching me. Whew, talk about pressure.
Tom and I got the chance to chat for about 30 minutes, then while we were packing our gear, he sat down and played my Carter & NV112's for about 10 minutes by himself. Tom is a great player.
It was a fun time for all yesterday. I did not get to stay for the Jones show as we had another gig 50 miles away and only 1-1/2 hours to get there and set back up.

Bill that is Tom Killen and yes he's a Great player and long time Emmons Pedal steel player; until several months ago when I set him up with a Sho-bud Pro-II, and he won't touch his Emmons anymore...ha.

Yep Ricky, Tom was telling me about that Sho Bud. He is sure proud of it.
Tom has a stutter and I could not understand his last name, besides the fact that he was talking to me while I was playing.
