West Texas Steel Guitar Assoc. 2nd Meeting

Post by Larry Toliver »

Just a not to let everyone know that the West Texas Steel Guitar Association will be having their 2nd meeting on August 21st at 2pm at the Ball Ranch. The 1st one was awesome. Jim Loessberg and Bob Tuttle performed and were spectacular! This next club meeting in August will feature Junior Knight, Johnny and Joan Cox, and Paul Polish will also be there on drums. It will be the place to be on August 21st. Roy Rosetta emailed and said he also might try and show up too. Bobby Rountree will be playing bass, and Larry Toliver will be on guitar. Be there and tell everyone about it. In October Albert Talley and Randall Palmore will be at the WTSGA and in December Jody Carver and Larry Toliver will be on the steels with some twin stuff. The West Texas Steel Guitar Association is the place to be. One last note....Our Major jamboree has Doug Jernigan and Terry Bethel confirmed for sure in June of 2006. Great things are on the horizon. For info or to join the WTSGA, email Larry at ltoliver@valornet.com.
Thanks,
Larry Toliver

Larry, I would love it if Jody Carver came, I can't carry his case, but unforunately, I believe folks will have to settle for me - Jody Cameron - instead...is that right or am I mixed up on the Jodys?

There's so many Jody's around here that I'm starting to call myself the wrong one sometimes. Image

Hey JOdy,
Yep, you're the right one allright. I haven't heard Jody Carver pick, but I am excited about hearing you in person. I play every weekend and don't get out of town to hear too many other pickers too often. Where does Jody Carver live....is he in Texas too? I just emailed Jody Sanders, he had a post too! I will have the 2nd part on Remington RIde as you requested. Later!

Hey Shady,
It will be Jody Cameron on December 18th with yours truly also. Please promote it to everyone. By the way, I now have for sure: Doug Jernigan, Terry Bethel, and Herby Wallace for the major jamboree in June.

Larry,
We wish you much success on your WTSGA meeting. Wish I could be there.
Thanks for the invite for next year, and yes I will be there then, and I might even bring an extra Bethel Guitar along, that is if I can find the time to build one.
Your friend,
Terry Bethel

Yes, I have confirmed to be at the show next June and already looking forward to it. I have known Larry for several years now and I know all of these ventures will be outstanding. I wish I could attend some of the upcoming shows, but I am just too far away. I hope to see everyone there next June.

Thanks Larry, I have never heard Jody but I understand he is a great picker. Also I recieved your mesage asking about the cd's we recorded from the last meeting, well we are trying our best to get to them as soon as we can. We recorded another show for Claude Gray and he had purchased a new 16 track digital studio that had a bad hard drive, didnt show up until mix down, man what a night mare, anyway, we will try to get the cd ready this week, thanks for being patient, tell eveyone I did not forget them , just not enough hours in day to get it all done. Gary Carpenter played steel on the last show with Claude, another great texas picker.

Larry, are we having the sell and trade spot this time? I bought a great seat at the last one at a great price. I understand some amps were there also but I was too busy
recording to get a look at them. Also, this time I would like to bring the big studio with the snake and get at the back of the building out of the way, do you see any problem with this? I can get a much better sound with the 48 channel board. I can also work sound for the show at the same time through the same unit if you would like me to.

I'm really looking forward to hearing Johnny and Joan Cox, and my old buddy, Junior Knight, perform at the August 21st meeting. Anyone who can, should make it a point to be there. It will be a great show.

Thanks Bob, for the reply about the next show! It will be awesome. Doyle, I think it would be fine to bring your other recorder. Also, the swap & shop is still on, but I don't have too many items. I still have my nashville 1000 for sale & it will be there. Promote the steel meeting!

Hey West Texas Steel Guitar Association Members! Let's say thank you to Jeff Blackwell at www.steelguitargear.com. He just sent us some t'shirts to raffle off at our next club meeting, and some bumper stickers that say "I love my Steel Guitar". Thank you for the nice gesture Jeff! We owe you one! Later,

Hey Bobby,
I used Microsoft Publisher for the newsletter, and I guess it might be the problem. I'll try to open it in my browser and save it in html format. It will be a good time. Have you heard, Junior Knight, Johnny & JOan Cox, Roy Rosetta, Paul Polish, and Of course, BOb Rountree on Bass! What could be better? See you there on the 21st at 2pm! Promote it to everyone you see!

Hey guys do you know you have a great fiddle player in the abilene area named Reggie Wrinkle. Reggie used to play with me in the Beaumont Texas area. His little sis plays fiddle for Reba McIntire and Martina McBride. You should invite him over I know you won't be disappointed

Larry, give me a couple of days and I'll get you his number. Reggie and Mark O'Conner were friendly fiddling competitors some years ago. Reggie moved to Abilene and started an Insurance business and I believe he has a Store there where he does outdoor musical events.
