On September 11, I will be playing a gig to honor our firemen and officers in law enforcement. The song selection will be along the patriotic theme and about our country. I am looking for any ideas you guys and gals might have concerning songs that would work for such an event. I have found that there are some of these songs that are difficult to play fills on but we are going to give it our best shot.

God Bless the USA - Lee Greenwood
This Land is My Land - Peter Paul & Mary.
(Woody Guthrie)
Don't know if this is a fit for the event, but could be a sing-along
quote:
This land is your land, this land is my land,
From California, to the New York Island,
From the Redwood Forest, to the Gulf Stream Waters,
This land was made for you and me.

I roamed and rambled, and I followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me a voice was singing
This land was made for you and me!

This land is your land, this land is my land,
From California, to the New York Island,
From the Redwood Forest, to the Gulf Stream Waters,
This land was made for you and me.

As I went walking that ribbon of highway
I saw above me that endless skyway
I saw below me those golden valleys
This land was made for you and me!

This land is your land, this land is my land,
From California, to the New York Island,
From the Redwood Forest, to the Gulf Stream Waters,
This land was made for you and me.

As the sun was shining, and I was strolling,
And the wheat fields waving, and the dust clouds rolling,
As the fog was lifting, a voice was saying
"This land was made for you and me!"

This land is your land, this land is my land,
From California, to the New York Island,
From the Redwood Forest, to the Gulf Stream Waters,
This land was made for you and me.

Bobby Bare's "God Bless America Again". That seems to get good response wherever we go.

Thanks for the replies on the forum and by email. I still am looking for some more songs if anyone knows some that would work for such an occasion.
