Coated picks.

Read the post on plastic coated picks and wondered if anyone ever tried dipping picks in a material similar to what is used on tool handles but on a smaller scale.
One product is Plasti DipĀ®, a multi-purpose rubber coating, for the Do-It-Yourselfer. Seems dipping the part of a pick that wraps around finger would give a softer and more secure grip.

This what I am selling on the forum. It isn't just dipping them, but you need to prepare them by cleaning them with naptha or something similar as they will have a film on them. Also the viscosity needs to be ideal. If it is too thick or too thin it can cause issues. Also you should double coat them but wait at least two days between coats. I sell National NP2, Dunlop .025 and .0225 for $4.00 each including shipping. I take Paypal and my e-mail address is
dougrolfe@tds.net
Good luck for those of you who want to try coating them.
Oop!

I just buy shrink tube..{Electrical insulation} from electronics shop....it shrinks when heat is applied..so I buy slightly bigger than pick..cut to size and hold soldering Iron under it to shrink.
I would prefer Dougs Picks..but cost is too much to send to Australia......also Doug is a friend of mine
....so..er..well..maybe..perhaps he wont feel I am stepping on his toes with this post

There is no problem on my part. I just want people to know that if they do this on their own they will not have a problem. I've done this for several years and have experienced enough problems to try and keep others from making those same mistakes. Tony, are you still married to Donna?

Doug,s dipped picks are cheap enough in my opinion and he does them up right.I use to do my own picks but its not worth it.I was at a gig this last weekend and got a hold of one of my old picks and it really slipped around a lot.I,m going to order another set from Doug.I don,t think I will ever be a master pick dipper.

Thanks Billy:
I haven't received them yet.
Also, for those of you in the UK and other European countries, I can sell them to you for $5.00 per pick including shipping. If you can order 4 or more at a time, it would make it a little better for me as shipping to Europe is the same for 2 as well as 4. I don't know about more than 4, but if you wish to order more than that, I will still get them out to you for $5.00 each.

I bought some of these picks from Doug.
The can of rubberized dip is very expensive unless you want to do a lot of picks.
