PUP question

Does it matter which way the PUP is turned or are all of the poles the same and the winding gives the ohms? Is there a 1 thru 10 or all the same

As far as I know, Lyle, nearly all pickups are wound the same and have the same pole pieces throughout, so there should be no issue with which way they are installed. Orientation is mostly a matter of how you need the leads to run.

What about a TrueTone that has a "wave" in the pole piece alignment?
The 12 I just bought from Tony Glassman has a hump in it from either 3-8 or 5-10.
At its peak, only about 1/8", but it definitely has a wave to it.
I can't imagine Jerry not noticing it when he made it, so I assume it's deliberate.
Does it matter which way I drop it in?

it depends. the winding leads should be attached according to the poles whether they are north or south up.

Top vs. bottom is kinda moot, the wires come out the bottom.
I just wonder if it matters which end faces front, since the "hump" or "wave" doesn't sit in the center.
