How right you are Ken! This photo is from about three years ago at the Western-Swing HOF! (Next to me is the great jazz guitarist Benny Garcia).

Just a quick note to let you know that my father, DeWitt "Scotty" Scott, Sr. is being honored by an induction into the Western Swing Music Society Of The Southwest "Hall Of Fame" this Saturday, September 16th at 2:00pm. What makes this award so special to "DeWitt" (he didn’t get the name Scotty until he moved to St. Louis) is that the Society is based in Yukon, Oklahoma...which is his home town. Many of his classmates are going to be there and of course, he will play at the awards show. Anyone within driving distance should attend this event. It will take place at Ernie’s Palace 1/2 mile south on Banner Road. I-40 West Exit 130.

Let’s all give Scotty a big hand for his latest accomplishment.

Gene, are you going to be there this year? My father-in-law Jimmy Cox is also being inducted, so the wife and I will drive up Sat.

Ken, I'm going to try to be there on Saturday afternoon to get some photo's of Scotty's induction for the Forum. (Oklahoma City is a "suburb" of Yukon) Image (I just missed you last weekend when I was in Mineral Wells...a suburb of Weatherford). Image

....and Ken, congratulations to your father-in-law, and to Scotty for this honor.

Congratulations to the "Scott" man. You deserve to be recognized for your ccontributions to western swing -- and in your home town, too. Can't get any better than that.

Gene, if you get some good digital pics, email me a couple that I can post on my web site.

Congratulations to Scotty!!

That's great. It just so happens that I was in that vicinity just a few weeks ago in early June on a road trip from Maryland, visiting my wife's aunt in the Lake Hefner area of OKC. Too bad my trip didn't coincide with the show!! By the way, my wife's mother grew up in Coalgate, OK, for any of you who know that area.

Looks like it will be a great time, wish I could be at the show. I'm sure it will be very special for Scotty. And by the way, Michael, you must have your mind on Labor Day weekend, I'm sure you meant July 16 Image Thanks for letting us know about the induction.

Enjoy the show,

Ted Smouse

A glad day for me because one of my older friends, Jim Cox, was inducted into the Hall. I've had the pleasure of having Jim and Gwen in my home, and sitting and reminiscing the good times of country music with them. Jim is still a tremendous singer of 'Real Country'. He's also an excellent rhythm guitar player.

I met Jim through the company of Ken Higgins and his beautiful wife Diane. BTW Ken is a gent who's overcome a tremendous illness to continue to promote and enjoy our style of music.

Congratulations to the family and it's certainly a well deserved recognition of a tremendous musician.

Folks, this is a tremendous musical family.
