We had another great jam last evening and a large audience, especially for this time of year.
Ernie Cawby came without his guitar but we made him pick anyway, same way with John King and Johnny Bondz. We had two drummers come to our rescue as our regular drummer is on vacation, Tony Sellman, and Roger Allen who drove over from Jacksonville Beach (about 150 miles).
We also had an Anniversary Committee meeting before the regular club meeting/jam and did the final selections for the show. The 3rd Anniversary show will be Saturday, Sept 17, 2005.
The show pickers are:
Jack Stoner
Don Sulesky
Ernie Cawby
Larry Danley
Connie Burton
Jim Price
Frank Shafer
Jack Dougherty
Johnny Bondz
Larry Bell
Chet Gibson
The backup band will be Ray Riggs (Lead Guitar), Sue Bondz (Bass), Karl Congdon (Drums) and Tom Murphy (Rhythm Guitar).
Tickets will be $15 and will include a fish fry dinner by Catfish Johnny. Tickets will be available by Aug 1st.
More info will be posted on our web site and on the forum later. |

Jack (a new one at our house) explains why I did not come prepared to play, also I had a trunk full of things members left at our house after the jam Monday to bring, along with a guitar that was unplayable, no room.
Thanks for the hospitality at the jam our crew had a great time, we had 10 people with us for this one.And 2 at home that wanted to come, but had to work.
I think a great time was had by all, and the crowd was responsive, the players are getting better every time we come, is it peer presure? or just a desire to get better.

It was a pleasure for me to be able to make it to the meeting...I really missed all the players and the fun..
The peer pressure Ernie talks about may have some merit.. I know it does for me....I never want to show up knowing all the rest of the pickers have been wood shedding the whole month and leave me in the "dust"..
From what I heard last night.....well.....when I was driving home I was spitting a lot of dirt.... Well done to all of you!!
This club has matured so much in the past few years that I can safely say we hold a second to no one...I tip my sombrero to all and resubmit my thanks to Jack, Don and Blake for keeping it together...

I also want to thank Tony and Roger for helping us out drumming last night as well as Tom Murphy and Trudy Stoner on guitar and John King and Bernie Waldon on bass. Without our back up band it would not be the same as playing to backup tapes.
Also to our great MC Blake Hawkins who just keeps things moving along as well as keeping a record of the players and songs they perform.
And as the others have said this club has made us all better players than we would have otherwise been on our own as we share what we know with eachother.
And Jack D it was fun for me on our duo of Blue Jade.
So glad you could get out behind those big jet airliners for our jam last night.
And many thanks to Catfish Johnny for the use of his restaurant to hold our jams each month.
