Just got home from playing at a community-wide Sunrise Service. This was only my 3rd time playing steel in public, and the 1st time playing Gospel music. We set up in a softball field.

We had a 5 piece band. I brought my Sierra 8-string, and we also had rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass guitar and drums.

Nothing real fancy, we did The Old Rugged Cross, Because He Lives, and Then Came The Morning. None of the songs had lead breaks, so I mainly played backup, fills, and tried out some harmonics I've been working on. I did get to kick-off The Old Rugged Cross.

They've been having this Easter morning service annually for about 20 years, and this is the first time they've had steel guitar. It was received really well. Lots of folks came by afterward to compliment us and check out my steel for a closer look (or to ask me what it was).

Even had one guy tell me "That's the first time I've ever heard a steel guitar in person".

Kinda made me feel good. Very Happy

That's great, Steve. It will only get better, too!

Steve,
My daughter and I also played "The Old Rugged Cross" as well as "Rock Of Ages" at our Easter service.
She played an autoharp and I played my acoustic lap steel. We made a joyful noise. Very Happy
