The recent topic of band photos was so much fun to look at. How about this. Whats the best gig you ever had. I'm not tlking $$ mind you, just the best experience you've ever had playing steel, be it the vibe, was the band hot, was it a great situation, and why.

Wow. That's really hard. There have been so many over the last 4 decades. But, I have to say, it wasn't any of the 3 that I had this weekend.

I didn't know that your band was in the bar scene from "Star Wars!" Wow, you must have made some serious coin for that gig!!

Wow ! That looks hard to beat. how about this. Back in the seventies, when telephones were attached to walls, my pals and I used to play a local bar for free. For fun, it was the hangout anyway so what the heck. Once a month or so, and we where already set-up so why not saturday night as well. Sure! The empty cases of beer were piled up pretty high, at the end of the night, the owner wanted like $100 bucks from us, after we brought in all kinds of $$ and played played for free. So, we said we got the money from our cousin in the car. Yeah right. Yes, it was right around the time of Bob's country Bunker. Well maybe it wasn't the best night of all but we still laugh about it.

How about this one for proper respect for the steel player. They love steel guitar in France!

I once had to play behind two singers. They kept shooting me nasty looks every time I hit a clam. Wonder whatever became of them...

My best gig ever was playing steel guitar at a private party for Stephen Sondheim's 75th birthday. It was in someone's loft near Lincoln Center and there were about 20 of us there.

My second favorite gig was at a recording studio party on a beautiful mountain overlooking the Ashokan Reservoir. The guests in attendance were Donald Fagen, Jack DeJohnette, Tony Visconti, Levon Helm, David Torn and many, many other greats.
