That is cool, but not the first.

Bob White (formerly with Hank Thompson) played standup steel with his combo at his "Someplace Else" club in Oklahoma City in about 1984-85.

He used the pedals, not unlike Alvino Ray, i.e., primarily to play chords not possible otherwise. His small group played some great "big band" orchestrations of that era.

But,that was not unusual, because western-swing musicians and bands of tht era did a great job of saving the great music of the WWII generation.
