After playing my 2008 Carter SD-10 for a few years, I've come to conclusion that I don't necessarily like it's tone ( it plays great although )....George L SS pickup on it when I purchased it...I need more "growl" without buying an Emmons. Any suggestions on what single coil pickup I should try, to get a little more of the traditional pedal steel sound from a Carter? Thanks

Try the Alumitone. You can get them from Al Brisco at Steel Guitar Canada. I have them in my Carter D10 and they are great - single-coil clarity with zero hum. Very good separation of individual strings, too.

IMHO, I have a D-10 Carter with Bill Lawrence XR-16s and one with the Alumitones and I prefer the BL pickups.JS
