What is the normal resistance of a stock pickup on a Carter Starter? I've got a Starter I'm working on and the two center strings, 5 & 6 are really loud and the outside ones, both top and bottom are weak. I'm getting a reading of about 30,000 ohms on my meter. That doesn't sound right to me.

Bob, I am surprised that nobody has taken a measurement and jumped in here already. My Starter has moved to a new home so I can no longer take a measurement, but I am sure that I did take one when I had it and my memory says it is 17K. I wish I had something more concrete for you, but HTH.

That would seem to be rather high unless a volume control pot was in there too...
