Jackson BlackJack Custom-I've been playin' a Jackson Steel for two years now-more pros and no cons, lots of pros, including great design, sound is incredible, tone is incredible, pedals are smooth, guitar is light and can be played anywhere. This guitar is so easy to play and the pad on it is comfortable and it plays and sounds and looks beautiful! To me, this guitar has the sound and tone I've been lookin' for for twelve years, and it's got a classic sound like the steel guitars on country records of the 1960s. Another thing I love about this guitar is that I can pick faster with this guitar.

Image Here she is for y'all-this is "Black Diamond", my favorite and best guitar. She sounds so beautiful when she plays a good country song!

I love my Mullen G2. The sound of these guitars seem to adapt to any style of music I want or need to play. And also the mechanics of these guitars are solid as a rock and stays in tune very well. For me it's the total package.

Mullen G2, hands down, have had 3 other brands, and the Mullen has them all beat. Don't want to fault the other brands. Larry

I really don't have a favorite brand. I have four guitars now, Zum, Rains, Mullen And a Williams. All D-10's and each one is different and all play and sound great. I've owned almost every brand of steel that's made and even though I wish I had some of them back, just can't put my finger on a favorite. Maybe that's strange to some of you but even though there are good points about each brand and maybe a few little bad points, I love em all. I can say that my first guitar ever was a brand X, and I would quit if I had to play one like that again, lol. :whoa: They are still made so won't mention the brand.

Emmons LeGrande 3. I've had the guitar 4 years and its been beat, dropped, had beer spilt on it and put through the ringer but it plays and sounds as good as the day I got it. Its perfect for me, has everything ill ever need in a guitar, it fits my style and it just sounds wonderful as it gets older. I'm not against any other brands but so far Emmons is/will be my choice of guitar for a while.

I have several brands of guitars, but I always seem to gravitate to the MSA's. They are great guitars from the old mid 70's Classics all the way up to the new Studio Pros. Here's part of the collection, I no longer own the Superslide, I just couldn't get into non-pedal steel. I no longer have the S12 I'm behind either, but I have two more in various stages of restoration.

Any questions?

My favorite guitar would depend on what the job is.

Road work---MSA "The Universal"
Session work---Emmons SU-12
Barroom work---Dekley SU-12
Stage/Concert work---MCI SU-12

Though each guitar has features that make it more desirable, or appropriate, for the particular job, each one could be used for any of the above purposes. Each one is a terrific guitar.

My first PSG was a VERY nice Rains (Gary Carpenter) SD-10 in rosewood mica. I still have dreams about that guitar. Wow. After I had it for a while, I got used to it and forgot how awesome of a machine I had,I got the itch for a D-10. Had to have one, No two ways about it. I traded it straight up for the nicest and best sounding Carter D-10 that I know of. I played it HARD for a good long while with no real problems at all. REVELATIONS: About a month ago, a '96 Emmons LeGrande II, ser #1310 (Red Wine Mica) wound up at our shop through a trade that my Dad made with a fellow forum member. The Carter left three days ago. Haha Great axe, but it just couldn't stand the weather once the Emmons showed up. ;-) I'm sure this isn't my last PSG, but as for now, That Emmons has my heart. 8) Tone 9 miles deep, and its a very rare bird, as far as it's color goes.

What Mike W. said, I prefer different guitars for different applications. Nothing compares to the beautiful sound and feel of a good D10 P/P, but there are times and places when the Emmons sounds too "nice" and that ShoBud single coil grit on a fast S10 Pro I is the one to get 'er done right.

My old D-10 Blanton has to be my favorite. It just fits like a glove. It is the only guitar I have ever had that "Fit" right.

I just finished reworking my old Sho~Bud, and I am becoming very fond of it as well. What a tone monster!

My Jackson Pro IV lacquer SD10 is my favourite guitar because it does it all - rock, blues, country, etc. Very versatile. And I've owned it longer than any other steel I've had. I stopped looking at other steels when I got the Pro IV.
