David,
Can't be much help, but I have LeGrande 232L which was delivered from the factory, in May, 1984.
Comparing numbers, it would appear you have one of the later ones. Perhaps toward the start of production of the Lashley LeGrande series.
Best regards, Jay Thompson

Well, lets see now. LeGrande II's were well under way in '96 or '97.
Some where in between the Lashley LeGrande's were
in production. I would suggest the late '80's at the latest. Perhaps '89 or '90. But what do I know?

My Lashley LeGrande, 9p/8k with 4-hole cranks, is #511L.

Jack, or anyone? Inquiring minds want to know the year of manufacture, although I'm guessing late 80's.

511 L

1889L was new 8/18/98 and 2085L was new in October, 2000.

I bought them both new and still have the invoices.

In the past these investigations have usually suggested an output of 160-200 guitars each year, although I wonder if those sort of figures are still being achieved. It's a rough guide, though, to dating a LeGrande.

There are eight years between Cartwright's guitar (971L) and my Oct, 2000 D-10 (#2085L) - it works out to an average of 140 guitars a year.

'91 seems right, I'd say.

(Where are you in the UK, David?)

Thanks Roger, due to an email I have now been pushed more to an early 92,guess that will be close enough.
UK? South Wales, born in Brum, got here via years spent in Kent,Scotland and all parts.
Made a living (not a very good one) playing guitar and steel with UK country outfits in the heady days of country music clubs, now retired and enjoying life here in taffy land.
cheers
