When Bob Wills recored this in 1938 he essentially had a PoP Horn Band and was not considered to be "Country". On the Hank Thompson version I beleve PeeWee Whitewing and Bob White were playing parts with twin Steels.

Billy your right,,PeeWee and Bob did a fantastic job on that tune "Big Beaver" ( as they did on any thing they played together),,as Ole Waylon always said about Bob Wills being the king of Western Swing and I agree but,,I guess that "The Brazos Valley Boy's" did as good of a job on "Big Beaver" as I ever heard,,and another one that had Bob and PeeWee doing twin steel work was "Dardenella",,them boy's sho knowed how to do It..to me when you say "Brazos Valley Boy's" It ment Bob White and PeeWee Whitewing on the Triple Neck Bigsby's ....

Mike Ihde used to sell a VHS of various steel players' televised performances and the whole thing started off with a bang: the Big E playing "Big Beaver" with a big band behind him on a Bigsby non-pedal triple-neck guitar. Beautiful!
