by Jody Carver
The Last Fender Guitar will be going into a preliminary status before a hard copy is approved by the publisher. Mrs. Sandy Erkus is preparing the manuscript for this project.

There are stories and photos from 1950. I would appreciate those of you who have expressed interest to e mail or post on this Forum so we can get an idea of the quantity we will have to commit to.

This has been a Long time project and I have tossed it many times. You can thank Sandy Erkus for insisting that I complete this project. She has insisted I do it or else

Thank You Gentleman and all you ladies as well. It takes a woman to get the job done Image

Let me be first to step up and say "SAVE A COPY FOR ME". I will definitely buy one. It would be even better if you offered autographed copies!!

Thanks, My friend.

You bet I'll autograph the book. This has been a rough one on me. If you wish I can include a baby picture of me posing on a bear
rug. Image Sandy is doing this as fast as she can. I'm taking the credit while she does the work. She is a housewife so have a little patience.

Now is that womans "lib" or what Image

Thanks we appreciate it. You are too kind.

I most certainly will. This book had been in the works since 2001,but health issues took
priority, If anyone is looking for a book with regard to technical questions and answers, this is NOT the book for you.

This deals with the life of a then young Fender salesman who was there from the beginning.
I had to create a "human interest" story because there are many books out there that have technical information that I dont have and I saw no reason for me to get into that phase. That would only make this "another" one
of those that are available.Publishers have had a myriad of technical oriented books offered to them and they are not buying something that has already been repeated over and over.

I certainly will thank "the good lady" for you, that is my pleasure. Image Thank You my friend.

Jody edited for spelling, just one of the reasons it has taken me so long to get this done. Thanks
[This message was edited by Jody Carver on 04 June 2005 at 04:11 PM.]

Jody, I'll take 10. With Christmas just around the corner, they'll make great stocking stuffers. (I'm serious - put me down for 10!)

Thank you,all of you.

You all have inspired me to go through with this project. I gave up after my loss back in November & I gave up again a few days ago.But those of you I call my friends have given me the push I needed so much. Billy, Al,Joe,Blake,Kenny Foy, Howard Reinleib ,Keoki,Smiley,my friend Mike Gross,Don Sulesky ,all of you and my very special thanks to Rick Alexander for helping me make this dream a reality. I cant say any more, than I have already said,I get emotional thinking of the friends I have made on this Forum Family.I am doing as best as I can to finalize this with the help of my good friend who is working so hard to help me all she can.If I were to name all of you I would have to write another chapter to express my gratitude to each of you. You were there when I needed the support.

Bless You ALL OF YOU.

Well, Well, Well. I'm finally glad Mrs. Sandy has lit a fire under those pants that you lost at X-Mart Jody. In time we're all gonna appreciate her for gettin this book on the road or should I say on the shelf. I have to take a little time to put something on here about someone who I consider a Best Friend. Mr. Jody Carver. When I first started conversing with Jody he would tell me these Fender stories from a by-gone era. In the back of my mind I'm saying this is history and should be put on paper. This is 1st hand history, not he said she said history. This is from the man who was there. This is the best example of "I wish I was a fly on the wall" type history. The decision making and behind the scenes look at the genious of people like Leo, Jody, Gene Jones and others. The tear jerking stories of how Jody meets an old friend in one of his rides in a taxi cab. Or the Last Fender Guitar tear jerker. Now a few years after constantly asking Jody when is he gonna get back on the book, it sounds like he's finally, "Gonna Git-r-done". And let me say this in closing. I have had the pleasure of meeting Jody and his late wife Marilyn. And in all honesty they are two people that bring sunshine into your life on a cloudy day. So Jody my friend if you're reading this, !!"GET BACK"! you aien't got time to be reading this, you have a book to work on.

Don't forget me either "cuz" I've been waitin for this one since it seems like forever. And let's not forget the "still guiding light" that is still behind this project. Miss Marilyn. She pushed Jody to finish this book as well I'm sure.
And thanks Miss Sandy for the help and the added push.

Jody, I hope your "records" still indicate that I was one of the first to reserve a copy of your long overdue book way back in about 2001 when it was still just a "maybe someday". I had about given up but looks like it's gona come to fruition afterall!

You should be honoring those Great Steel Players we all know. I was only a salesman who was there at the right time.

But I do appreciate it anyway.

Thank you
