Several years ago, SGF member Craig Prior posted a series of nonpedal tabs (including Blue Hawaii, Sweet Corn, Poinciana, Beyond the Sea and more) which, according to the archives I've read, were very well received here. After unsuccessfully trying open them, I contacted Craig to see what the problem might be. Craig replied that that they were "lost in cyber-space", having been done "several computers ago". At Craig's suggestion, I'm wondering if there are any super organized members who might still have any or all of Craig's tabs. Thanks.

Craig is a very helpful guy. He gave me a copy of his transcription of "Singing the Blues," the acoustic Hawaiian version made famous by Sol Ho'opi'i. I checked the Tabs on the HSGA forum. Most of Craig's are no longer available, but "Waikiki Chickadee" still is.

Hi Ralph, I don't have any of Craig's tabs that you asked about, but Craig did tab out one of my speedpicking clips a couple of years ago. The links to the tab and the audio are below. This was a clip I recorded and posted in a speedpicking thread here on the Forum. Craig must have liked it because he tabbed it out note for note and sent it to me... very generous of him I might add. He did an excellent job!

That is encouraging!
The way I figure it, at 61, if I work hard every day, and put into practice what I pick up here, I will be able to play that clip when I am 102, since I already have a full year under my belt. (that is, of course on the misguided assumption that I have some innate talent)

I am thinking some intermediate goal setting may be in order.

When will your new book be out, and do you have a list of the music that will be included?

Bill, keep picking, and keep lovin' it! From what I've seen, most listeners respond to the sweet, sustained sounds of the steel guitar, not necessarily the speedpicking anyway.

I can truly relate to you thinking that in 42 years at the age of 102 you might be on a par with Doug. At 66 myself my goal is that in 4.2 years if I am 10% as good I'll be tickled plumb to death.

Yeah, thanks Terance. Also thanks Doug. Thats some pretty neat stuff, something to chew on for a little while. Only downside is my tele has been getting jealous of my stringmaster already, telling me I'm playing favorites.

Craig gave me permission a few years ago to post some of his tabs and analysis docs on my LapSteel group on yahoogroups.

In fact, I was just looking through them as I am starting over again after a few years of dealing with health and other issues. I've only played lap in Open D. This time I'm going to tackle C6.
