Tuning Issue

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have a gig tomorrow night:

I just restrung my Emmons SKH and on string 8 I am having a tuning issue. I lower with LKR and raise with LKL. When I got everything tuned up at the keyhead I noticed that my lower wasn't lowering a half step, it was more like a quarter step. I tried to adjust it and it just kept lowering the pitch of the string when I would disengage the lever. So I loosened everthing off at the keyhead and the changer. Went through my steps and it wasn't lowering at all. Eventually when I adjusted the nylon lever enough I still got to the point where I was just lowering about a quarter step at best. Anybody have any suggestions?

That sounds a bit different..Did you have a problem before you changed the strings...? If not, it could be slipping at the keyhead..Most problems associated with strings not raising or lowering properly are related to travel in the pulling system..If the trouble is not at the keyhead, you could have the ball end of a broken string stuck in the changer which would cause binding..I've had that happen more than once.....It's really hard to tell without seeing the guitar...It could be related to the pull fingers on the cross-rods too..Hope you find the problem......Carson

No problems before the string change.

Josh,,it sounds like your problem is string related and not in the pulling system..Make sure you have the right size string on there or if there's something slipping or binding...Carson

Your welcome Josh,,,Glad you found the problem...I know how frustrating these things can be sometimes..Now when you get that thing tuned up,,go out and just play the Dickens out of it...Have a good gig....Carson :)
