So, it took 2+ years, but worth it!
#17 of the hollownecks.
Starting over sort of, with G tuning and Stacy's book.

Hot on the heels of your Ross Coole frypan too, right Ron? You have some primo instruments and no mistake. |

Yeah, Life's good!
I had forgotten about the tricone when I put in for the frypan....It had been over 2 1/2 years, you should see the list price for them now
Ross built his guitar in a couple of months!
So now I'm totally broke!!
And yet, stoked |

Hi Ron,
Yes.....nice looking instrument without a doubt.
I'm LH too, and I'm in the market for a reso although I have not looked at an all metal job, they're too expensive for me.
I have two questions though..............did you need a customised LH version made for you for any particular reason?
I notice the T shaped bridge cover.....would this have anything to do with it? |

Congratulations Ron, it is stunning. So many beautiful instruments so little money. _________________ "I shall pass through this world but once, any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. It's my personal battle against lefty discrimination!!
Back in the day, the Dopyeras, Beauchamp, Rickenbacher, No-body felt like making a lefty tricone. I can't let that stand!!
Anyway, this is no old school tri, with wood stuffed in its neck. It's Don Youngs new improved totally HOLLOW neck version. -extended sustain, and this strange extra added subtle vibration only hollow neck guitars have. (check Blackbird guitars) Almost like an echo..
Some people have felt the arraingement of the cones has much to do with the tone, others not so sure. Never switched a righty around before, so don't know..But it does sound great!
John, I'm selling my 1-off national metal-bodied spider coned model D, (set up left handed) if you're interested, send me a line.. |

Thanks for the offer, Ron, but I am in no financial shape to buy any guitars! Plus I play my guitars strung right handed, so only rarely, like with a Tricone, would a lefty body make any difference. I have my Sqiuer Strats set up to play right on lefty bodies, and that suits me after all these years. Most lap steels it doesn't matter, either, only some console models re too clumsy to play from the wrong side.
Thanks again! |
