Are there any video files showing the differences for 8-string, 10-string, and 12 string non-pedals? Maybe comparison files for those of us who are seeking which guitar is most suitable for where we want to go?

just get on youtube and have at it - Reese Anderson plays a 12 and from then you can find Carco Clave and Billy Robinson on 10's & tons of 8's
i dont see that as the best way to make a decision, i dont see a 6 string as any less musically potential as a 12 string.
i myself, like an 8 string tuning. when i first started, and i was working tunings out on paper, it appeared the more strings, the more options you have, and that IS true, but for me, adding more strings just gets in the way. i'd rather have a D-8 than an S-12.

Doesn't one have to first figure out what type of music or melodies one might want to play....and in what style?
then, what tuning affords he/she with the most playing options.......and the least limitations;
I personally don't see it as any number of strings for strings' sake.
For years I got by with 8 string necks (Fender/Bigsby).......then 10 string necks on the Emmons.....(that's the way it came from the factory).
Now, I find my 7 string Ric's afford me all the versatility I need. But, it depends on the player. |

I was thinking of something along the line of 50s-60s Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. That is why I was thinking of including the lower strings.
