one of the springs for my pedals on my emmons broke and needs to be replaced. is this something i can get at a local hardware store or do i need to get it somewhere special ? also the lever seems to spring back fine without it, and hurt in playing the guitar without the spring until i can get it replaced ?
her's a pic of the underside of my guitar. the third spring is missing (for the a pedal)
thanks

I'm not sure about replacing them, might want to call Tommy Cass about getting an original one. Fwiw, I took all those springs off of my d10 Emmons except on the C pedal (there's a little slack on that one that made me nervous about jumping on that pedal quickly). My guitar plays a lot lighter now and no rods have fallen off yet, I doubt they will at this point. Besides having just a lighter feel, I can also feel the stops better. I quite like it. |

On a P/P, if you don't lower strings raised by your A and B pedals you can set those pedals up without so much "slack" so the rods won't fall out and remove those springs. You do need one on C because of the necessary slack for the 4th string lower. Some players like the springs on A and B regardless so the pedals will return faster.
My local hardware store has an assortment of Century Springs and I wouldn't be surprised to find something suitable there or at a Home Depot or Lowes.

I think Karen means the pedal return spring. The spring is missing off the A pedal cross bar. If that's that's the case, a spring from the hardware store will work if you can match it up for size and strength.
There are some folks here who have some spare parts for Emmons guitars, maybe one of them will volunteer one for you. |

"what Brent said".
I was just talking about this with Larry Behm yesterday. He took those springs off years ago. I followed suit on pedals A & B a few months ago. The guitar plays much easier, so I've left them off of both my P-P's |
