Curly Chalker Big Hits on Big Steel. Never heard it before until this weekend. A friend shared a copy with me. It must be my favorite because I've listened to it at least 10 times this weekend! Just unreal! What a player he was. I've heard other records of his but like this one the best.
Did he use a long scale Fender 1000 through a Fender Bassman? Would love to hear more info/stories/details about the session.

It's way up there for me, too, as far as steel records go.
His playing on Wolverton Mountain through a Leslie and The Race Is On kill me. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

I wonder if this was tuning he used for the recording.

Reliable sources tell me he used a Fender 2000 (D10) guitar, and the tuning used on the album was C6th with an "E" on top
It's pretty obvious Curls was not a fan of "whiny" sounds! |

I got this album in 1966 and with all the albums since, this is my favorite of all of them. Yes, that Fender 2000 never sounded better in anyone's hands. I don't think he had any knee levers to do all of this, either. |
