The key to soundsheets was to tape the corners to something flat that either had a hole or easily tolerated a hole; I usually used cardboard.
I've no idea why I never used one of dad's chipped/too scratched to play records he hang on the wall

If anyone has a copy of these MP3's I would love to hev'em.
The upseide to have vinyl over CD's is that at least when record scratches you can still play it but if a cd gets scratched too badly than its no good.
I love the sound of a HI- FI record.
ya can't beat it :)

Hello fellow steelers,
As Winnie himself allowed to share the audio files, I put them up on my website with
a link to download the files for everybody who is missing his floppy disk.
Enjoy.... :D

I thought I replied, but maybe it was to another question.
You wanna burn a CD for other folks?
I have NO problem with that. Just don't xerox the book!
JW

Thank you!

This site is such a gem. Saved me ordering a new copy because my cd got scratched. Thanks so much.

I think the thing I like best about this book are the beautiful pedal steel arrangements done by Bill Keith.

Does anybody know if he did other arrangements that are available? I think I looked in the Tablature section once but didn't find any...

Yup. Mr. Burns expressed his gratitude. And it's STILL a good book

Oh the memories! I got my first pedal steel in 1986. I knew my way around a 6 string pretty good, but those pedals and knee levers had me dumbfounded! I plinked around for 2 weeks before I realized that if I pushed the first two pedals at the same time I could get an “A” chord.
After another month I was about to throw in the towel, then I happened across Winston’s Book in a music store. Learning to play Red River Valley was a revelation for me. Now I was not only learning how this durn contraption worked, I was making the sounds my heart wanted to hear. After 30 years I still can’t play the thing, but I have fun making those sounds.

Reviving this thread because of the plethora...(hey, how many IS a "plethora,, anyway? :whoa: :whoa:  )...

...anyway, there have been an unusually large number of players who bought Fender 800's or 2000's over the last year or two who got the book with them (or bought a used copy) and the old "soundsheet"(aka "flexi-disc", aka "needle eater", aka "drink coaster", aka "puppy chew toy") was missing or destroyed.

The link in a post above works!

The record was like something off the back of a cereal box. Remember those?
