Any new players in the Minneapolis area want to get together and work stuff out?
Take turns playing guitar while the other plays steel?

If someone wants to put the effort into jump starting a get together again like we used to ie: finding a place to hold it and all the work that goes into it. I think you'd have a bunch attend, myself included.

Craig, that is correct, she sang several duets with June Randal the lady in the blue shirt in the center next to me, Dennis Atkins played a lot of rythym guitar. Albert Svenndal, Mike Randolph, Mark Wayne and Jerry Dube are hard to see in that picture, and Joe Savage and Dave Slattery were there also. There were several others but I can't remember their names of hand.
(PS, sorry I can't make it down to Wisconsin Rapids this year due to a prior commitment)

There was a "Minnesota" steel guitar association and Dennis Adkins managed it but it kinda fizzled out. There's lots of good players in Minnesota.

Hello Tom, welcome to the area. If there were enough interest in putting together, I would try to help organize one. We do have a great many steel players in the area, and I am sure we might be able to put together a jam session. I don't think that we would put any shows together unless we had a big demand for them. Jams are a different animal, and we need to generate enough interest to go full bore like we used too.
As mentioned in Steve's post, I did run the MN steel organization with help from other players, but when I moved to Colorado it kind of dried up. It was a lot of work, and in order to do this type of thing again, we would really need a lot of interest and support from all the players.
Let me know if you are interested in doing a jam, and I will try to help organize it.

I am actually from the Grand Rapids area and am very much a beginner but would like to get together just to learn. Would really appreciate just being around other steel players. My skill level is such that I couldn't help but learn something.
