I usually play a GFI Expo, but I wanted a extra guitar for rehersals etc. I got hold of a shobud maverick that will fit my needs.
But, I`m gonna customize it a bit.
Here are some pics of the process:
Still not finished, but its getting there

Looking good so far, Tor Arve. Are you keeping the original changer or do you have plans for something new?

I`m keeping the changer. Gonna set it up like this:
A pedal-raise B`s to C#
B pedal-raise G#`s to A
LKL-raise E`s to F
RKL-raise F#`s to G#
RKR-lower D# to D
I`ll have what I need with this setup.

Why would you want to cover wood like that with shelfpaper??????..Looking good...Bill
Edited to say...If you have the resources, beadblast the endplates if they don't polish out to suit you.

I`m having them beadblasted as we speak
Hoping to get them back today.....
Now what I need to get hold of is two extra knee levers...think I have one lying around somwhere...

Your clear coat finish is very well done. Very uniform. How are you doing it, and what are you using.

A white fretboard from mr. bradshaw, and a Jerry wallace pickup(also from mr. Bradshaw)

Now that's a good looking Maverick. But if they had come that way from the factory, It would have costed us newbies (back in the seventies) around $6-800.00.

Now my maverick rebuild is finished
I set it up with a limited, but very useful setup.
2 pedals and 1 knee lever, I will later add one or two more knees.
I mounted a Truetone on it since the original pup was gone....
I gave it a sunburst finish and a white fretboard
Its now a great guitar number two
I intend to use for gigs where I have to travel light, for short gigs with just one or two songs it is really small and quick to set up.
Here are a few more pics of the process:
Here is how I recived it:

Did you change the undercarriage from cable to rods?

No, but I am conemplating doing that....
Just need some more time on my hands, I got a son 4 weeks ago, so I think its bets to postpone any workshop activity for a while

I was curious if you saw a tone difference with the plastic wrap removed ? but I guess you also changed pickups right so you probably can't ever answer that question. Anyways I send you a private msg too. I'm thinking of doing this with my Maverick and just leaving it the natural wood color with a clear coat over it. I'm getting my pickup re-wound by Jerry wallace too.
