What a whirlwind trip I had today! Left the house at 7:30 am and headed to Mickey's place. 188.5 miles one way. Arrived at Mickey's at 10:30 am and was introduced to my new G2. Man, what a guitar! If I could only play 1/10 as good as the guitar looks, feels, and sounds (with Mickey playing it). Left Mickey's at 12.30 pm and arrived home at 3:30 pm after a 377 mile round trip. Unpacked the new G2 to get her settled in to her new home, and introduced her to my wife. So far, so good!

I must explain that I am 67 years old and am a rank beginner on pedal steel, although I have been playing the Dobro for quite a few years. After attending the TSGA Steel Guitar Jamboree in Dallas for several years, mainly to see some of my Dobro friends (Mike Auldridge, Howard Parker, Carol Benoit, and Myron Johnson to name a few), the PSG bug bit me very hard after last year's Jamboree. I bought my first PSG, a pre-owned custom 2008 Mullen G2 SD10 early last summer from a fellow Forum member and met Mickey Adams in the process.. Then, because of Mickey, I got interested in the 12 string Extended E9 tuning. So, I first acquired a new Williams 700 SD12 that was immediately available. I want to say here that Bill Randolph was a super fellow to work with on my purchase of that very fine guitar. Then I bought a Zum SD12 from Mickey. Another very fine guitar, and I got to visit with Bruce Zumsteg via telephone in learning some nuances about that particular guitar. Bruce was very nice and patient with me during that learning process. Of course, during all of this, I am acquiring pedals, amps, steel seats, instructional material, etc., etc.. By this time, I am going nuts over this pedal steel thing. Figuring that a guy can never have too much of a good thing, I ordered a new Mullen SD12 in Extended E9 configuration and went on the high end on the finish with the lacquered mica with pearl inserts on the front apron and a full polish job. And the best thing about this whole story is that I was able to do this without facing a divorce! Of course, tomorrow is a new day. I did learn a long time ago from past marital experiences that you don't have to have a PHD in math to figure out that if you keep dividing your assets by half, you will end up with nothing, like ZILCH! Well, just leave me my Dobros and pedal steels!

Thank you so much, Mickey, for helping a novice order a fine instrument and for teaching me so much about the pedal steel so that I could order this guitar with at least a little bit of knowledge and comprehension.

I am very fortunate to have been able to acquire the pedal steels I now have, and look forward to some good years learning to play them, and, most of all, just to enjoy having them as part of my musical family. Maybe at least one of my grandsons will turn out to be the next Buddy Emmons, Paul Franklin, Lloyd Green, Hal Rugg.... I can dream.

Beautiful finish. I've always loved the way those Italian made accordions look, this is just as cool. I would order that finish in a New York minute. How durable is the lacquer on the mica?

Congratulations Gerry, nice to see the photos, read your enthusiastic posts - I'm sharing your joy on this beauty. I am curious how it sounds when Mickey descripes it like heaven?

(To check that out, I am willing to teach you "mansion", ME playing this one Very Happy Very Happy )
