I bought a used DP-02CF Tascam digital recorder, to record my guitar to some music tracks. The recorder uses the Type 1 Compact Flash media cards. They are referred to as CF cards. The computer I have has a card reader on the front that will accept SD-MS-xD type cards. I assume the SD type cards are for cameras. The SD cards are much smaller than the CF cards. Can I get a converter that will allow me to plug in my CF cards to the SD slot on my computer? I don't know if the CF to SD adapters interfere with performing reading and writing fast enough, or if there would be a storage issue. The CF cards must be more than 512MB, and the CF card in the recorder now is a 1GB card. The Tascam recorder does have a USB output connection where I can go straight to a computer. Still, it would be nice to store my songs on my type 1 CF card, and then be able to plug the CF card into my computer. I think I could do that if I could get a SD adapter. I would assume it would be easy to break off the adapter the way it would have to stick out. The fellow I bought the unit from said he broke his adapter. What do you suggest? Thanks

You will have to get a USB connected card reader that is compatible with the CF cards. Most everything now uses SD cards (full size and micro).

Keith, I have an old Nikon Cool Pix 950 camera and needed a new compact flash card for it. Just today, I was looking through my B&H photo catalog and saw a CF adapter that you could plug an SD card into for $24.95. (B&H photo is located in NYC) I think this is exactly backwards from what you want, but due to the difference in the size of a CF card vs. an SD card, wouldn't it be impossible to have an adapter that would convert a CF card to an SD card? How do you put something larger into something smaller?

Yes, I see some adapters on New Egg for $15.00 that will take several types of cards to USB. Hard to keep up with all the new stuff coming out and being discontinued. Jack you must live at Best Buy in the Electronics Deaprtment. How do you keep up with all the new stuff?

Got a "Digital Concepts" Model CR-75-P 51 in 1, 6 slot card reader/writer from one of the national electronics chains for about $20. Reads and writes SD, MS, Micro SD, SIM, XD and CF cards. Mid size USB jack, and came with a full size USB adapter cable. Might have come with a utility CD too.

Keith I believe in getting card readers with just what you need; those that work with 26 million card types are overkill.

I have a great one from Lexar, handles SD and SDHC (high capacity) and CF cards. Just two slots, that's it, but that's all I use, and Lexar is a reliable brand.

Mine is USB 2, there's a new version that handles USB 2 and 3.

Get if from amazon.com, almost always the best prices on everything.

Still feeling the love for your great volume pedals, buddy!
