I have played a lap steel for some years now but my Parkinsons has started to "bite" and my right hand is difficult to control some times making pickin' a problem. My thumb is OK and I can "pinch" with my thumb and second finger.
I have always used C6th tuning, but can anyone suggest an alternative tuning which may be easier to manage, open E has been suggested, what do you think??.
I am determined to stick with it so any other ideas which may help me would be most welcome.
Many thanks
Howard

Open E, or any other triadic tuning, may be easier to manage if you're playing primarily with your thumb...potentially less muting involved. I guess a lot of it depends on the music you're playing...Open E may be a little bit of a bummer harmonically if you're used to the richer C6 tuning. Wish I could be more help.
Good luck Howard.

Many thanks Steve, I think I will give open E a try, I can always restring back to C6 if I dont like it!
Cheers
