Curious. If the pedal steel were an animal, which animal would it be?

A cross between a chameleon and a Grizzly? It's extremely versatile and adaptable, but it'll eat you.

A cat. An extremely cute, cuddly and purring kitten or a roaring lion that can tear you apart.

It would also be a cat because when you pick one high string near the pickup, it could make the sound of a cat with a high meow.

IMO a Wolverine or a Tasmanian Devil. That thing will bite the hell out of you, chew you up and spit you out.

When you are a raw beginner, your pedal steel is as stubborn as a mule, and as musical as a cat being dragged under a door by its tail.

Just like a horse, the 10 stringed beast has to be broken in, but when it has eventually surrendered, wow, was that journey worth it :D

a domesticated wild dog - maybe a cross between a husky and a wolf. just when you think you've got it fairly well tamed and figured out....you don't, and it jumps the fence (maybe after biting you) and takes off again. If you're lucky enough to recapture it and put a lot more time and effort into it, you're both the wiser until the next time it happens. :?

A creature that must be brought back from the brink of extinction by new bloodlines and new ideas.

I'm not sure exactly, but I'm pretty sure it eats meat because it often takes a bite out of the guy sitting behind it. Ouch...it did it again last night.

A big Lab.

Pedal steel is what animal?

IMHO, no question - it's the duck-billed platypus!

(Because of it's rarity, and also possibly because everyone seems to have such a hard time classifying what it is and where it belongs. )
