I remember a Jim Spears. He taught welding in Scott County Va school system and had a band called the Bandits and Jim would play by himself sometimes. He had a drum and maybe a high hat or something like that and he would also play guitar and sing. That was back in the late 70's. Is the Jim you are talking about ?

Jim Spears

Post by ed packard »

Tony...thanks for the reply.

That would be Jim! He was a top welder in the atomis industry at Savanah River Project, and in Vallejo CA.

He had one of the early Les Pauls. Did not know he was a drummer too.

He was a good friend. Lost track of him when he left CA. Any further info?

Thanks again...Edp

I will be there and hopefully play some more. I played all I had at the last Jam but I am working on some new stuff and I hope to play backup on a track or two at this one. That is my goal any way.

Tonights search gave address as Jared street Kingsport. May be obsolete as his age was listed as "early 90s".

Too late I guess...I will check TN obits.

Thanks again.

Mike is going to learn more tunes? He has forgotten more steel tunes than I will ever know. My problem is trying to remember what little I thought I knew. Hope to play a little better this time and get over a case of jitters. Sam I dont guess your bar is cold in Fla., have a nice and safe trip.Hope to see everyone soon. Pete in Elizabethton

Hey Sam, Glad you still have the T-shirt. I was cleaning out the garage the other day and found a box full of those T-shirts. If I can make the March show I will bring them and give them away. :)

No Tony and Steve what the problem with the T-Shirts is you guys have to learn to back away from the table a little sooner than you do. MY T-Shirt that I won with all the signatures on it is still way to large for me.You boys better be care full that weight is not good for your health.I keep my weight down to 148 to 150.

Jam

Post by Herby Wallace »

I had intended on making the last jam, but had to cancel, but if I can work it out, hopefully, I can make this one. My friend, Will Van Hoye, called me and told me you had a backup band at the last one and would have them back at this one. Even though I have over 200 tracks, I still prefer playing with a live band.

Hey Herby, hope you can make it. Live band or tracks, whatever you want to use.
