Whitey Morgan and the 78s, featuring Brett Robinson on steel, came to Chicago this week along with Billy Joe Shaver. Brett is a fine picker who really dials in that Mooney sound on his Sho-Bud D-10. He got down and honked on the C6th neck, too. A terrific, good-time band. I owe Whitey a drink for “Rainy Day Woman.”
