Well after a lot of research, and a fair few blind alleys, I've finally ordered my new pedal steel.

It's going to be built here in the UK by Ron Bennett and will be from his Artisan range. Here's the spec:

Artisan Single 10 (with 3 pedals & 5 knee levers).
Keyless head
Metal neck
Dual coil pickup
Emmons copedent
Lacquered finish in yellow/black burst

So it'll be a S10 version of this (but in a different colour!):

It'll be ready in a few months time. Ron's been a top guy to deal with and I'm really looking forward to seeing how this turns out!

I'm sure it will be nice. I understand he builds a top-notch guitar.

Mark, you will be more than happy with your new guitar, you are indeed right Ronnie builds a great guitar and is a gentleman to deal with.He did a lot of work on my old Shobud and indeed taught me a lot about maintaining and setting up my guitars.Look forward to seeing and hearing your new guitar

Mark...it "will" be a great guitar. Ron's been building for many years. As you know he was in the Liverpool band called "The Hillsiders" My band and them used to be on the same show in the early 70's and he was already playing one of his creations. He's also a real gent. His actual keyless changer is "very" different to the normal type on other guitars, even quicker for a string change. I know Ron well and he told me he designed his steels from the best parts of a bunch, from M.S.A's ... Sho-Buds, Emmons etc etc. I recall he told me his metal necks have wood underneath. Let's see it on here when it's done Smile
