In efforts to come up with something that was traditional, yet outside-the-box, this is what I came up with. It's not even done just yet... still hafta put pearl dots over the 4 screws in the fingerboard extension over the body. It's been a long while in the making. |

Very nice looking. Can you offer us some details as to internal construction, hardware, etc? Also in the first pic there is what looks to be a strap button in the neck heel. How does that work? Attaching at the peghead is what I commonly see. |

It's a soundpost-supported guitar, medium bracing, and no kind of internal baffling system. And yes, the strap button was something that I put there after seeing and playing a friend's guitar with the strap attatched at the heel. I'll probably end up going back to the old method... I actually play the thing upright on my lap (regular guitar-style) and play slide in alternate tunings sometimes so it comes in handy there, too. The soundposts are positioned at each "corner" of the cone, as there are four of them evenly spaced around the circular rock maple flange that the John Quarterman Reso-Cone rests on. I like testicular sound of the 1930's Dobro brand guitars, but for playing in jam sessions, I enjoy the volume of the modern resonator guitars just as much as the next player. This guitar (to my ear) gives a great happy medium between the two sounds. To me, it sounds like an Emmons P/P |

Beautiful job, Jake. Thanks for sharing. (We all look forward to an audio example, by the way.) _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel
