About half way through my gig tonight my Evans started distorting, especially on certain strings, we took a break and I replaced all my cords but that was not the problem, any one have any idea what kind of problem I could have? I also bypassed all my effects and plugged straight into the amp, still distortion. I will try another speaker tomorrow to see if it could possibly be the speaker but I dont think it is. I dont know of anyone in the west texas area that works on Evans so thats my problem, thanks for any help. |

Check the cord that connects between the preamp and power amp. I've seen problems with that. |

thanks Jack, yeah that cord is a 28volt power cord for the pre amp and the other goes to the power amp. I did check to see if they had came unplugged but I will check for possible shorts in the cord this morning, I found one person online that said the 1/4 inch recepticles were bad about getting a film on them and causing distorting. I will clean everything good and go from there, thanks for the help. |

Jack you were absolutly right, that cord was the problem, may have been giving some trouble for a while because when I fixed it the amp sounded better than ever, complete different bright and clear tone, I felt like I was having to add more treble along but just thought it was my ears with all the sinus problems we are having here. Gee I feel like I just got a brand new Evans ! Great xmas present huh? Thanks a million for the tip, I will remember this in the future. |

My SE200 cut out very briefly on two separate occasions, for no apparent reason, then worked fine.
Then about an hour into a rehearsal, it cut out and stayed out. No distortion, just dead. The amp's about 2 years old, but Scot at Evans had me send him the pre- and power amps, and his suspicion was confirmed that the grey cord had somehow worked loose and would thereby shut down everything. He graciously took care of it and was apologetic (even covered shipping). I'd say you can count on him, as he stands behind the Evans name. _________________ 1979 MSA U12 Pedal Steel
