Hi all...at long last I decided to get a Neo magnet from Peavey U.K. Ordered it late tuesday, got it today Thursday. Took all of 5 minutes to change magnets once I removed the back of the cabinet, and lay it face down. My cabinet is seperate from my Nashville 400 head. Ok, it's only approx 6 pounds lighter than the original, but you certainly feel it when lifting the cab. Don't think twice if you wanna get hold of these Neo mags while they are still available. Because Neo material comes mainly from China and I have a sneaky feeling the prices are going to go up on Neo material in the comming years.
Do your back a big favour Smile

Hey Micky smart move mate, I have Neo's on all my 1501-4's and it makes absolutely no difference to the sound either .... just so much easier on the back as you mentioned !!
you need to keep your back in good shape for "other" activities Very Happy

Other activities Paddy???? I have no idea what you mean Laughing Laughing
Yes...right about the No loss of tone too, after all it's the basket that does all the work. If anything it seems to sound better...perhaps my imagination. Probably now replace the speaker in my Evans split cab. The eclipse in there still sounds sweet considering it's a 1985 amp and speaker..so no "real" urgency. I can pick and choose as both amps are in heads, as to what goes out with me.

Micky, I see you made the switch without problems. Not much to it. Did you "clean the gap" before installing the new magnet as I suggested?

No need to Jack...but I did anyway ... was totally clean as it's a "new" Neo magnet and the "GAP" was covered with stick on paper anyway to stop dirt get in from after it's assembly. Certainly a well made product. It was the last one Peavey U.K. had .. till another shipment comes in. So you guys over the pond, do your back a favour..you have distributors there i've read on the Forum...and actually the price quoted there is alot less than what I paid here, obviously because it's an import to U.K.

I have a pair of BW 5101-4's and changed'em over to Neo magnet.....one-by-one.

I did a "blind" A/B test both before and after the switch.

Someone fully panned the balance each way (right and left) on my stereo pre-amp while I was "blindfolded". I consistently and correctly picked the Neo because I heard a slight loss of brightness in the speaker w/ the lightweight mag. I heard no such difference (nor could I correctly identify the speakers beforehand) Both speakers were in identical Walker cabs, stacked vertically.

That said, the tone difference could easily be offset by tweaking my amp.

Not sure Chris but the 2 Nashville 115E cabinets I changed out are from about 1994 if that helps ... my Nashville 1000 is a bit later model but the speaker looks exactly the same. see pics below:

Yes indeed mate they do - had them for a fair old while and they have been very reliable - even better now with the Neo's cos the cabinets are fairly solid!

The Chinese govt. has restricted the export of Neodymium. The price of it has increased 4 to 10 fold because of it.

Their use in green energy products has increased enormously..Toyota of Japan purchased their own mine to meet their demands and to curb dependence on Chinese Neodymium.
