You can find many of his LPs on blogspots for dload, but most of his latter output gets too icky with the accompaniment, but he was a good player. |

He was a wonderful steel/Hawaiian guitar player and electric guitar player.
From Holland he was a member of the Dutch Resistance Movement in the 2nd World War,
who escaped a concentration camp on the way to his execution.
During this time he was also a founder member of the Dutch Swing College Band, playing American "dixieland" jazz.
As this music was forbidden by the German occupiers and during the German "razzias" (raids) the band could quickly switch to Hawaiian music and thus escape imprisonment.
He later joined his father's factory in Margate, England as a business partner and made his first commercial recording in 1963. _________________ 1977 Sho~Bud D10 ProIII Custom; Sho~Bud SD10 The Professional ; ETS S10 5x5;

I knew jazz was banned, or at least there were hard rules about how it should be played under the Reich, but how interesting that Hawaiian music was not proscribed this way! Thanks for the info Peter! |

He was a decent player alright, and not choppy like a lot of players I hear on youtube these days. |

Very exuberant style - I hear a lot of joy there. |

It may not apply to this particular recording...(difficult to know), but Wout did most of his later recordings playing ALL the instruments,(multi-trac). He was a very good musician, was also fluent in 4 languages. I think he moved to England somewhere around 1948 where he gained tremendous fame. As I recall, he died in the summer of 1985. |
