Good Bass Speaker and Cabinet?

This doesn't pertain to Steel, but this is the best place to find experience and the best info.
I'm putting together a component (rack) for a bass amp guitar system. I have a Peavey ProBass 1000 pre and a Carvin power amp (rack). Now, which speaker/cabinet? To lighten the cabinet, a Neo 15"? Best manufactured cabinet? I like the punch of a single 18", but the speaker by itself is a brute.
I'm capable and have shop equipment to build a cabinet, but time is a factor.
Thanks for all the past input from forum members.

I found when looking into all this stuff recently that up-to-the-minute cab designs combined with high x-max neo speakers had made some of my old assumptions about driver diameter and tone somewhat out of date. I chose a Barefaced cabinet, which is featherlight and amazing; the company's in the UK, alas, but you might find the technical info section very interesting...

You might consider a fEARful design... highly regarded, very light, uses 12" or 15" speakers plus a midrange driver and available via several sources, or you can build your own fEARful ... many players have. There's a forum with plans and info, plus a huge amount of stuff on Talkbass. Of course, there's tons of opinion there on all the various other manufacturers too. Hope this helps.

I've been playing through a Schroeder 1210 L for a couple of years now, and I still like it a lot! the Cab weighs in ~45 lbs with 600 watts capacity. They're a little pricey, but I decided that having my bass rig weigh in at less than 50 lbs was worth a few extra bucks!

For Larger Clubs I still have a heavy old Peavey 118 loaded with a BW, but I really don't need it, most times I just wheel it and use it as a stage prop to make my rig look larger!
