Topic: Pedal and/or effects |

Still learning my way around a Lap Steel and have a Fender Mustang I amp with several effects, but wondering if there is one or two pedals that will give me a "fuller" sound. As it is most of my playing is single note and I am trying to add more notes but thinking that it would sound better to have some fill in back ground so to speak. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I couldn't agree more. I've tried most any effect you can think of, yet I always come back to reverb + delay.

But do keep in mind Thomas that the Mustang Amp has many reverbs and delays within, just in case Santa refuses you.

According to Fender's website, the Mustang I has the following delay/reverb effects: 12 delay and reverb effects (tape delay 150ms/1 repeat, stereo tape delay 300ms/3 repeats, mono delay 700ms/4 repeats, small room reverb, plate reverb, large hall reverb, Fender ’63 spring reverb, Fender ’65 spring reverb, tape delay room, tape delay large hall, ducking delay small hall, echo filter)
You should be able to find something there that will fit the bill. What lap steel are you using?

| Here's a valuable tip that I got from a musical hero of mine. Get a TubeWorks "Real Tube" pedal, the black and yellow model. Turn the volume all the way up and set the gain almost all the way down, just enough so the pedal isn't silenced but there is no distortion. Put it BEFORE the volume pedal. It fattens the tone and increases sustain. Great for single-note playing. |

| Talk about having senior moments, even though I mentioned the fact that I had a Fender Mustang I, forgot that I had many options that I had not experimented with and that helped a lot. Have a Melbert 6 string that Bob Allen built for me and very pleased with that, just have to practice more. I have a second Melbert on order so I can have more than one tuning. Thanks for the suggestions and the help. |
