I've had an Emmons LeGrande, bought new in 2002. Loved it the minute I played it. Other than the E9 pick up and the adjustment screws falling out due to strippage on the mounting surface that I remedied by wrapping dental floss around the screws, it worked as per the counter force etc. Well the pu issue got the best of me so I contacted Jack about getting a humbucker, which fixed the problen; the holes for this pick up were unused and not stripped. BTW I had never adjusted the original. Jack did not build my steel as he had left Emmons a few years before my order was in. After talking with Jack I decided to make some minor changes and have Jack go over it and balance it out so to speak! WOW! This guitar is a dream to play! I had a 9th string lower added and now the 2nd string double lower works like it should. Thanks again Jack. Don Drummer

This is a prime example of a QUALIFIED steel mechanic going over a pedal steel and making it play like it should. Big difference between fooling with a steel and having some one of Jack Strayhorn's stature going over an Emmons. He KNOWS Emmons guitars. If I bought a used Emmons he'd be on the top of the list of Emmons mechanics to send it to for a complete go through. Makes a world of difference.

If you have a Emmons LeGrande lll , have David Robbins set it up for you. Jack is great too. David has some little twists and turns that will amaze you. Your guitar will play so much better than the factory set you will not believe it is the same instrument...

Jack Strayhorn was at Emmons when I was a dealer years ago. He would always take care of any issues that came up. Always did a great job for me, the guitars always came set-up well when he was there....
