The easiest way is just to plug your steel into it, then it into the input of your amp. For better results, and since it's a delay, you should plug it into the "Post EQ" SEND on the front, and then plug the output of the delay into the "Post EQ" RETURN on the front. Quite easy, just takes a couple cables!

There's an old saying that gain-based effects(compression,overdrive/distortion) go in the front of the amp and time based effects(delay,chorus,flange) go in the effects loop.Doing it that way on a Peavey steel amp involves more cabling,but I like the results. Very Happy

Peavey suggests you put your volume pedal in the pre EQ patch...if that's too many cables though, you can do it before. I do it like this:

Steel -> amp input

pre EQ send -> comp/distortion and the like -> volume -> modulation / delay -> pre EQ return

If i'm feeling really ambitious i put the modulation/delay in the post EQ loop, but usually I'm too lazy.

I'm surprised more players don't use the volume pedal patch on Peavey steel amps.If you're going from your guitar to the gain-based effects to the front of the amp it seems sensible to have a shorter signal path to the amp,and using the VP patch takes the VP out of that chain.More cables,but the front of the amp sees the full signal all the time and the VP seems to turn the noise down with the volume when you back off.

....or you could just go steel> vol pedal in> vol pedal out>delay in... delay out>amp input. That's what I do with most off board devices like this. IOW, just chain the device in line between the vol pedal and amp.

If you don't like it that way, then experiment with some of the other connections suggested.

I do it the same way as Jerry does, and works fine for me. Jack
