Austin City Limits - Americana Festival from the Ryman

Post by Tom Grosz »

Did anyone else catch ACL this past weekend? There were quite a few acts that I really enjoyed, and the house band made it bearable for the few I didn't :).
Greg Leisz was on steel... I muchly enjoyed his playing, especially the non-traditional playing in Robert Plant's song!

I know the show was scheduled for PBS in the greater Bay Area begining last Saturday evening, and I was going to DVR the thing to be able to watch it later because we were meeting some friends for dinner.

They made a change in our programming here and it was nowhere to be found. I searched the menu in the cable system every which way and still came up empty. I expect at some point it will be aired, just need to keep my eyes peeled.

Bummer! If your TV search comes up empty, PBS does have episodes online.

You can also watch the show online: http://video.pbs.org/video/2168804814/

I was lucky enough to see this show live, and Greg's playing was a treat throughout.

The next night of the Americana Fest, Leisz played a great set with Buddy Miller and Jim Lauderdale at the Cannery. There are a few clips on YouTube with crappy camera quality but great playing:
