Saluda on Sunday

I started a new thread, just so I could personallly say some things. Buddy and Charles started the Southern Steel Convention back in 1987, and I felt tremendous pride and honor when Charles asked me to help out, after we lost our friend, and Brother, Buddy Walker.
There were a lot of players there yesterday, including Chuck Campbell and David West, who didn't play, and we still had music going till nearly 7 o'clock---and that's starting at 10 A.M! Everyone came, and wanted to do their best for Buddy. And I think they did.
Charles and Jerry Reece stayed on the go all day. Jerry was either running sound, or onstage, and Charles had a full day, just being Charles. Bill Ferguson worked his fanny off(never did mess his hair up, though ), running the booth selling Buddy's stuff, emceeing, and playing. Herby, John, Walter---in a word, CLASS. All the backup pickers did their usual great job, and all the steelers who played seemed to add a little extra lick, just for Buddy.
The folks in the kitchen deserve a pat on the back, for keeping the troops fed. They're kinda like drummers---you don't notice 'em, but there couldn't be a show without 'em.
It was a great moment when Linda Walker was presented with the beautiful quilt that Wayne Smith's wife had made. Thanks to Bob Evens for donating it. And speaking of donations, thanks to ALL those who donated time, money, talent, and effort into this show, to make it special in Buddy's memory and honor.
I apologize for any scheduling errors, I'll try and get it right next time. I never said I was an expert !
Thanks to all the folks who came out, to listen to music, visit with friends, and have a day of good clean fun. Y'all are the folks who make this possible. Thanks to the Shriners, for the use of the building, and the incredible work that they do for the kids. This is a non-profit show, and the Shriners' Hospitals receive all the proceeds from the show.
To those of you who couldn't make it, you don't know what you missed.
And most of all, thanks to God, without Whose Divine help, none of this would have been possible.
See y'all in May! God bless!!!
