I've been able to "capture" VHS video to computer files, but when I use software to make a playable DVD they'll only work on a computer, not in a stand-alone DVD player...I've been trying to get my steel VHSs on disk....Finally bought Tommy White's on DVD, But PF's and Palousek's aren't available! Hi John. Videos for DVD's to use on all player are usually converted
to VOB or VRO files. You can get free video converters on the internet.
What type of files are your videos now. MPG, MPEG or something different.

John,
Vista, and win 7 have a DVD, and movie maker that I use all the time, it converts youtube etc to a viewable DVD format that plays on any player.

I've made numerous DVD's. If I use the format DVR+R they will only play on my computer. If I use DVR-R format, I have never had a problem playing on any regular DVD player. |

The type +R or -R doesn't really matter. It's how the DVD is finalized that makes it playable on home DVD players.
Actually, a PC makes a poor machine to convert VHS to DVD. I use a standalone DVD recorder for that. It allows finalizing, etc and doesn't tie up the PC for long periods. |
