Well… maybe not "amazing" but seemingly somewhat unusual these days. A song and video on CMT which features the pedal steel guitar in the INTRO! Not to mention the turnaround and the rest of the tune.

Ok… so I'm being a little tongue-in-cheek here. But I like this very simple and straight forward song… nothing about pickup trucks, dirt roads, Budweiser etc. Shooter's album "Family Man", which features "Deed and the Dollar" drops on March 13th and I was privileged to play on it. It's a good one IMHO.

Geez… I'd call it country music. Am I off track on that? (no pun intended!)

Sounds great, Jon. You are not off-track at all. Ignore the static.

Way to go Jon! Smile Shooter's got a few good ones. Your playing sounded great. Made the song better than it would have been without steel. You fit it in nicely. Drea Matteo ain't too bad to look at in the video either, if you know what I'm saying!!

On another note. To know that work that you post up here, your heart, soul, your playing, that you probably busted ass to get connections for, is gonna be criticized by fellow "steel players", about whether or not it's "real" country, or posts being dismissive of your work, is really a dickhead move, guys. Keep it up John, It's just jealousy, bro!!! Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

Short haired, clean cut, tatto-less guys are playin what everybody complains about on the radio. Alt country artists are where it's at IMHO. I would jump at the opportunity to play with any one of these new great artists. Great job Jon. I also admire your work with Ryan Adams.

Don't know if Waylon had any tattoos, but he sure wasn't shorthaired and cleancut. Real country music isn't assembled in a factory. It's made by rebels, whether they are Southerners or not. It's real.

You sound good, you help make the song and the singer sound good, and you are in a good place, working with the real thing. Good luck.

Sounds great Jon, look forward to hearing the whole record. Shooter is a great guy to work with, I played steel in his band in 2008 and had a great time. The material then was def more on the rock side. I have enjoyed your work with Ryan Adams and am sure your contributions on Shooter's record will be great.
