Bobby Black is profiled in this month Vintage Guitar Magazine (December 2011 - Clapton's Gibson SG on the cover)
Bobby's article is an extensive overview of his career with great photos - just as in depth as the Lloyd Green article from two years ago.

Thanks for tip! I picked up a copy of the December Vintage Guitar magazine with the Bobby Black article at a local Barnes and Nobles book store. Very interesting and highly recommended. The comments on Bobbys playing by all the Cody and Wheel alumni are worth the $3.95 let alone Bobbys own recollections and insights.

Just bumpin' this post up to the top. I finally just read this article, and I didn't realize that Bobby (and Larry) had played with so many great folks over the years. Definitely worth a read by anyone interested in steel guitar!
My first (and only) lesson was with Bobby many years ago; some of the more memorable few hours of my professional music career, just hearing all the history and memories, and then watching Bobby play some beautiful steel guitar. (:
Congratulations to Bobby and please have a read if you get a chance.
Best,
LC

Bummer, I'm sure this one is gone from the newsstands by now, I missed this thread when it came out.
Bobby is one of my heroes, the man is as smooth as silk underwear.
