Did a set at the Viper Room on Sat night. About 7' above and to the front of me, was the strobe light, that I hadn't noticed when I was setting up. The top of my guitar has 2 aluminum 12-string necks and when the strobe came on, it went psychedelic. For those of you who missed the '60s, imagine a light show where your strings are dancing around on the neck of your guitar. These things can really be a challenge to play and sometimes that challenge can be really entertaining.

The trick is: blink at the same rate as the strobe. Laughing

On or off....your choice Cool

You can see the same thing sitting in front of a TV. A TV strobes at 30 frames a second if I remember correctly. Any B note seems to be the closest in frequency.

Glenn, I thought the frame rate on tv was 25 frames, video was 30 frames and film was 24 frames. A couple decades ago, I worked with motion-controlled camera rigs and for us, "real time" was 15 frames and up.

The thing about the strobe light was the equal time on and off and that made everything flutter. It was very disconcerting. Although, the worst one was way back, at the Palomino, where I was at the front of the stage with my Emmons and its shiny fret boards. We're doing an uptempo, the singer turns and says, "solo, steel guitar" and they flipped on a 10k spotlight that turned the top of the guitar into a mass of blinding white light. I sucked and died.

You are probably right at 25. All I know is that I could tune my 6-string B in front of the TV.

Glenn, to be honest, I haven't owned a tv since the Watergate Hearings. Years ago, we were out on location in Inyo Kern, staying in a motel and it was an afternoon call, so I brought my guitar to practice along with country music tv, in the mornings. They would play about 4 videos then one of the 2 different commercials for "women products" they had in the cycle. It was an odd way to start the day.
