It seems that everybody who has one has it doing something different. Mine lowers the G# strings to G natural

That change (G# to G) works well there, as you know. I've had that change there in the past -- it works well with the B pedal for a IV7 chord. Mooney used G# to G a lot, both with the B to C# and separately for the minor 3rd.

I've also had B to A with G# to F# on a lever, but now I have the Franklin pedal -- both B's to A and G# to F#. On my U12 guitars I lower 5,6,9,and 10 a whole tone on that pedal. That's what works best for me, after trying a lot of other options. I've had a '0' pedal since the late 70s.

I like string 6 G# up to ++ A# which works well alone or in various combinations such as with the "A pedal" to sound like pedal 6 on the typical C6 setup of 40 years ago.

My zero pedal does nothing.

Since I lower 10 a whole step (B-A) on my A pedal, I raise 10 B-C# and 6 G#-A on my zero pedal to get those lower chord voicings normally achieved with A+B.

My zero pedal lowers string 3 G# to G and raises string 7 F# to G#. The 3rd string is for some Mooney things and the 7th string is my "Brumley" pedal. I use that one a lot......JH in Va.

I'm with Earnest--my zero pedal is 6th string G# to ++A#.

New guy here... What the heck is a zero pedal? Sounds like the pea splitter that the mess seargant had me running around to the other mess halls looking for back in the 60's.

I raise my 1st F# to G# and my second D# to E. This allows me to maintain my RKL raising the 1st F# to G and lowering the 6th G# to F# (split)with a much softer lever action that I am used to. It works well there if you use the Emmons set up, but that's just me.

Jim, A zero pedal is a 4th pedal to the left of the A pedal, which can be played by itself, or together with the A pedal, the same way the A and B pedals are played together. As this thread shows, there are a lot of different possible uses for it.

Since you're a newbie, don't worry about it. You have a lot to learn about the standard pedals and knee levers before you start thinking about optional extras.

Lowers my low bass E to a C# and my high E to a D. It's amazing what voicing can be done with combinations on the E neck with that pedal.

Contemplating putting P5 (first one right of C) to work on both necks for the 5&6 Franklin Drop.

I was thinking about putting a zero pedal on my MSA S12 this one is not the Universal...I think you've seen my posts on this mine was a E9 extended, it had the D as the 9th string.
What I wanted to do was raise the G# a whole step. This, at the time, would have given me a jazzier sound when I lowered my E strings to Eb (B6 tuning, kinda). When I saw someone tonight using a D12 Mullen he had the 0 pedal doing the drop from E to C#, I thought this is cool too.
My guitar now is a EMCI Uni 12, 7+4. But....I still want that zero pedal....without going to the C6 (in my case B6) pedals.

unless they started with P2 or P3 (wouldn't surprise me with only 7 pedals), you'd have to rerod the whole guitar, which isn't too difficult, just time consuming.
Just make a chart of what you have first, then duplicate it a slot over. Doesn't P4 already raise the G#?
